It is Day 11 of this 42-day series on Six Weeks to Summer: A Traveler’s Fitness Plan.
The day started in Yokohama as that is where we disembarked our cruise ship. This looks like a really nice city to visit, though it will have to be on a future trip. I am Tokyo-bound to spend a bit of time with my husband exploring the city before he heads to Hong Kong for business.
This is my official first visit to Tokyo. I have been through the Narita airport several times but that doesn’t really count as a visit to Tokyo. I am here for 2 ½ days so I have a lot to see in a short time. Getting into Tokyo via their train system is the challenge for the day.
I am wearing my pedometer so all the steps taken underground as we go from one train to another are being captured. I wonder how many calories are burned by the stress of figuring out the train system?? But all works out ok once we found the “English” button on the ticket machine — and got a little help from a local visitor’s volunteer. Once we arrived in Tokyo, we did a lot of walking around the Roppongi shopping area.
As for meals today:
Breakfast was aboard our Princess Cruise – my last breakfast of smoked salmon with sliced tomatoes.
Lunch was in the lounge of the Ritz Carlton Tokyo (salad with several veggies and a Japanese oil-based dressing) while we overlooked much of the city.
A dinner cruise was a wonderful way to spend the evening with my husband in Tokyo as we cruised the Tokyo Bay. It wasn’t the healthiest meal, but I’ll make up for it by walking the streets of Tokyo tomorrow.
