It is Day 12 of this 42-day series on Six Weeks to Summer: A Traveler’s Fitness Plan.
Two flights to get home – 26 hours door to door.
I arrived at Narita Airport too early to check in. Typical international check-in is about two hours prior to the flight and I arrived earlier than that. Wandering around, I scoped out the offerings of the Japanese restaurants throughout the terminal. Thankfully many restaurants show plastic samples of their food items with a number associated to each. This is perfect for those of us who cannot read a Japanese menu!
Once I checked in, I found the United Lounge and did have a snack of veggies and a few pieces of sushi, along with a glass of red wine. The veggies were great, though I should have left the so-so red wine alone and left the sushi to others.
Aboard my flight, I ate a decent dinner (salad, salmon with veggies, one glass of red wine), though an ice cream sundae with caramel sauce found its way to my tray. How did that happen? Seems my willpower has a few flaws at 38,000 feet. And on a day when it’ll be tough to get all my walking in.
I recovered from my ice cream sundae sin on my second flight. Salad with a grilled chicken breast with just a tiny bit of dressing.
It’ll be great to get home as I’m looking forward to my morning protein shakes — and where there is no ice cream in the freezer!
