The Hotel Heritage in Brugge has the best towels EVER! The kind you want to sink your nose into because they smell so amazingly fresh, then wrap the plushness around your body and never come out. Great, great towels!
However, I know it’s typically not towels that are not the main feature you look at when selecting a hotel, so let me share more about the property:
Comfy sitting room on the main floor has you feeling like royalty. A cuppa tea, please!
Stunning dining room areas with a very nice buffet breakfast. Eggs, smoked salmon and big baskets of many types of breads and rolls will have you lingering longer than you want when there is so much to see in Brugge.
A casual continental breakfast and evening bar area. I wish I had made time to enjoy a glass of wine in this warm-feeling room.
Lobby seating area, great for meeting up with friends or family before walking the few steps into the town square. Such warm and beautiful furnishings here and throughout the hotel.
I love hotel robes and slippers!
Nice makeup mirror and a strong hair dryer.
As much as I loved the towels, the bed is just as amazing! It’s a handmade Nilson bed with soft luxurious sheets, poofy mattress and great pillows. A handwritten notecard on the desk written by the owner welcomed us.
The bed from my mom and daughter’s room. An extra side room offered a pull-out sofa and huge closet along with the room’s beautiful big bathroom.
The rooms also offer an iPad to use, free Wifi, and Bose Music with iPod/iPhone-dock.
Morning java from Nespresso, if you can manage to crawl out of the comfy bed.
Downstairs fitness center offers plenty of equipment. I got my 10,000 steps in by walking through town.
Brugge’s Town Square. Watch for a separate review on Brugge. It’s just a few steps out the front door of the Hotel Heritage so the hotel couldn’t be any more convenient!
How did I select Hotel Heritage? By reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. The reviews were great and the hotel lived up to everything I read. I don’t recall reading any comment about the towels, so I’ve got to get a plug in for them – they were that good!
You’re probably rolling your eyes at another towel comment, but understand that I stay at hotels a few nights of almost every week of every year so I know hotel towels! And none have made such a memorable impression as these.
We had three rooms at the Hotel Heritage for our family of seven (one room provided to me by the hotel, the other two rooms at normal rates). Each room was unique and all were beautifully furnished. Pull up in front of the hotel to drop your bags, then a member of the hotel staff will park your car in an adjacent garage.
Dinner is served in the hotel’s dining room, specials of the day were noted at the hotel’s main door. We choose to eat at an outdoor dining area in the town square as the weather was perfect for an evening outside.
We all enjoyed breakfast in the beautiful dining room and there was plenty of variety for seven different tastes. The service was great, with a uniformed server dressed fittingly for the classiness of the hotel and providing first-class service.
Yes, the Hotel Heritage is very much a classy hotel and so very comfortable. Not just the furnishings, the decor, the bed and the towels, but the people. From the owner greeting us upon arrival, to the very helpful front desk staff giving us maps and suggestions for what to see and do and giving us bottles of water upon our departure – it was definitely the people that also have made a lasting impression.
If you’re even in or near Brugge, Belgium, definitely consider the Hotel Heritage as your home-away-from-home. Or if staying elsewhere, at least stop in and ask for a smell of their towels!
